Strikes and Spares

http://www.indianagobowl.com/Member_News/new_member_0804.htm

Strikes and Spares is a bowling alley in Mishawaka near the restaurant Steak n Shake on Grape Road. It is fairly new, having only opened in June. It features an arcade, bowling alley, and a bar that is separate from the rest of the building.

The mission statement of Strikes and Spares is as follows: "to
provide a place for families to feel welcome and have a good time." It's obviously a great place for friends and families to hang out and enjoy each other's company.

There are employees there working as "Pinettes" who direct bowlers to their lanes and offer assistance for any other type of question. The workers there are all dedicated to helping customers enjoy their stay.

South Bend Parks/Recreation

http://www.sbpark.org/

The South Bend Parks and Recreation website offers links to various activities all around South Bend. This particular site displays detailed information about special events, fitness centers, gardens & conservatories, and a winter/spring guide. Most of these subsections link to different pages. For instance, the Ella Morris and Muessel-Ellison Botanical Conservatories and Potawatomi Greenhouse page tells about the flower gardens and gives a telephone number for contact. It also shows tour dates and flower show dates.

In addition, the special events calendar offers this chart:

The Ice Box

http://www.theiceboxonline.com/

The Ice Box is a skating rink located in South Bend. It is on S. Walnut Street. A map is viewable here:
map

The Ice Box teaches figure skating, but it is also open to the public on Saturdays and Sundays. On Saturday it is open from 7:00-9:00 pm and Sunday from 1:00-3:00 pm. It is $5.00 per person for adults and $3.00 for students. Skate rentals are $3.00.

Hockey games are also held here from time to time, usually on weekends.

"The ICE BOX - conceived, developed and grown by a devoted army of volunteers - has evolved into one of the finest amateur ice skating facilities in the Midwest. And the commitment to further enhance this great wintertime activity center is high on the list of priorities" (1). This statement is on the Advertising page of the Ice Box website; it goes into detail about what the company wishes to achieve with its skating facility. It is rare to find an indoor skating rink other than this in the South Bend area. While there is a rink at Merrifield in Mishawaka, it is an outdoor skating place. You might get cold.
